    aka: “The English summer hat”

    • Smaktakula says:

What is it with English folks and weather? Isn’t it said that only “Mad dogs and Englishmen venture out in the midday sun”?
I have pale, fishbelly skin, so I thought the UK’s dreary weather to be downright delightful!

      • Elliot says:

Yes – that is said because England sees so little sun that when they venture to a place where there is some, that they enjoy every moment. Where as in a hot place, all the locals stay out of the way when the day is at the hottest.

  2. Can you imagine a PMS’ing grizzly bear?! Oye.

  3. El Guapo says:

All I know about fur hats comes from the opening bits of Hitchhikers Guide.
Now I can sound knowledgeable as I compliment people on the fashionable Grizzly Tampons on their heads.

    • Smaktakula says:

I haven’t read that in years–maybe it’s time to give it another read. And you can’t go wrong with a clever–and at all times appropriate–expression!

  4. crubin says:

Hmmm, you do know a tampon goes on the inside don’t you? I think I missed something here. But I’ll take that as a good thing…

    • Smaktakula says:

I’ve always used pads, so no. But you may be reading too deeply into it. It’s just a funny term!

      • crubin says:

One never knows how deeply to read into things on your blog. Sometimes there are many layers to peel away. Other times a grizzly tampon is apparently just a grizzly tampon…

      • Smaktakula says:

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar!
In all honesty, I was so taken by the expression (I didn’t make it up) , that it just seemed a little cruel to suck all the fun out of it through a surfeit of analysis.

  5. Curly Carly says:

I wrote a post awhile back and talked about ushankas. I wish so badly I had known they had such a great nickname back then.

  6. I love those hats. I think they are coming back in style. My 16 year nephew asked for and got one for Christmas.

  7. HELL YEAH HATS ARE AWESOME.
    That is all.
