Big, big trouble for Niger.

The military junta in Niger has not only received stern disapproval from the UN, but their actions have also caused Niger to be suspended from the African Union.

Two observations:

                                    1)  A regime really has to be despotic to get kicked out of a club which still includes such paragons of liberalism as Muammar Gaddafi and Robert Mugabe.  Admittedly, there’s a certain amount of cache to being the baddest of the bad, ala Steven Adler, kicked out of Guns N’ Roses for his partying ways.

                                     2) The UN really shouldn’t scare anyone.
