Hell yes it is.
This Low-Tech Screen Capture From The Execrable Toddlers & Tiaras Comes Pre-Bundled With A Funny Caption.
I wonder how these children will feel when they’re in their 20s and 30s knowing that mom and dad decided it was fine to flaunt them on a reality TV show at an age when they were not cognitively able to agree to such a thing.
Well, to be fair, most of them aren’t likely to live that long. Those who do will undoubtedly be too busy being incarcerated, raising grandchildren, or scheming ways to win the lottery to worry about what mom did.
My God man, that’s both awful to think of, and absolutely brilliant.
And I thought I was cynical…
Yes, but what does it mean?
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!?
*Wanders off in search of tequila*
Ack! The title was left off the piece, obscuring its meaning. However, the lack of the title gave it a certain bizarre, dadaist sensibility.
While I appreciated the nihilistic absorption of the caption and your comment at the top, I am much more relieved that the title does in fact provide framework to the satirical commentary of the piece, juxtaposing the sharp wit of the author with the absurdity of mans quest for meaning in mindless entertainment.
Or, dude, that’s messed up!
The very idea of these shows makes me spit nails (for real).
These little girls should enjoy themselves now while they still have all their teeth.
Ahahahaa!! Oh No she di-nt!
oh yes she did!
Commodify your children, everyone in the trailer park is doing it!
I can barely talk about this, it makes me so angry. I don’t understand why people want to watch this trash — the exploitation of children and adults acting like idiots, screaming and yelling at each other and pitting their kids against one another.
I think ALL beauty pageants should go away. Enough already. How long have they been around anyway? Grrr.
Exploitation like this is simply wrong. And when one of these shows draws more viewers than a presidential convention, well, the old Roman bread and circuses comes to mind.
I despise parents who live vicariously through their children. The little ones have their brains washed. I’ve heard some people say that the child asked to join in. How about saying no? “NO!” No one should be sexualizing a child. It’s sick.
All my daughters are beautiful, but the youngest was so striking, people stopped us on the streets and even approached us to use her as a model, etc… I said “NO!”
Perhaps it would have boosted her self-esteem. However, my focus, as should the focus of all parent be, not on the outside or skin of a person, but developing the inside. But then, you already know this… 🙂
This is the sort of thing that people abroad say “Only in America – those stupid Americans”, not realising that a fair amount of Americans think this child modelling stuff is total crap, creepy and a whole bunch of other unpleaseant things.
Why you would do that to your children I do not know.
This crap is on par with forcing your kid to live in a cult, especially one that dictates “beauty” and that girls are just sexy women waiting to get out. So gross.
These programs depress me. I’d love it if there were rehabilitated pagent girls who advocate on the behalf of girls who have mothers who do this to them.
Somebody else is warping little kids?
God dammit, that’s MY job.
Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, but my book, The Bellman Chronicles, will be FREE to download on Sept. 10 – 11! Check it out on my Amazon Kindle page.. You won’t be disappointed. And if you can slip me a review, I’d be forever grateful…
